Well, as I was driving down the road one day,I met a pickup truck coming the other way.He hit a big chuck hole and a pig fell out on the blacktop. Well, that farmer didn't notice, kept cutting the jig, so I pulled over and I caught that pig.Threw him in my car and did a u-turn right in front of a highway cop.He flashed his lights and pulled me over to the side, and by the time he finished reading me my rights, that farmer was long gone, I didn't have his license or his name...So I asked the officer, "What'll I do?"He said, "why don't you take that pig to the zoo".So I did, and you know we had so much fun, I'm gonna take him to a ball game.Chorus:Kiss a pig, hug a swine,Some of them are good friends of mineI'm especially found of those poland china porkers.More fun than a dog and smarter than a horse, and you might find them a little coarse,But shoot, they ain't near as rude as some of those New YorkersNow that pig was a sight riding in my car,Wearing a baseball cap, eating candy bars,Folks asked his name, he said, "Oink",And they said, "Howdy"Yeah, everyone knew he lived at my home, and I guess that's how he came to be knownAs Oink Stevens, the ugliest man in Davidson county.Well here a while back things got real bad, You know we almost lost everything we had,Ol' Oink lost a ham, we had to build him a little peg leg.But as good as that pig had been to us, heck, we didn't have the heart to eat him all at once. You know there's some things more important in life than sausage.ChorusKiss a pig, hug a swine,Some of them are good friends of mineThe Yorkshires and big ol' red Duroc'ers.More fun than a dog and smarter than a horse, and you might find them a little coarse,But they ain't near as strange as some of those punk rockers.Well here a while back, I'm sad to say,In the middle of the night Ol' Oink limped away.He must have heard us talking about the coming recession.Yeah, but he was my buddy, and he was my friend, why he was my breakfast every now and then,And he never done me no wrong or gave me indigestion.Chorus:Kiss a pig, hug a swine,Some of them are good friends of mineI'm especially found of those Hamshire porkers.More fun than a dog and smarter than a horse, and you might find them a little coarse,But shoot, they ain't near as rude as some New Yorkers.

I've spent so many happy hours listening to Ray Stevens, in my life. Anyone who hasn't heard him or his many songs are missing a lot. It was so funny when we hadn't listened to him in a few yrs and as the kids got old enough to think parents are dull and boring, we pulled out Ray Stevens and shocked the kids! SO LOL! I don't know what was more fun, the old songs again, or the kids trying to figure out us listening to them.

One of Ray's best albums! This song brings back great memories. Every year my dad would buy a pig and feed it out, and we always named it Oink.
