Well, times do change and nothing stays the same. It's not the 1950's anymore and people are different so Ray needs to stop living in the past.

Don't anyone try to argue with that animal house guy, he's obviously one of them internet trolls, who obviously hates anyone who speaks the truth and stands for anything good, and there's no sense in speaking to idiots, and by idiots I mean that animal house guy, oh and by the way I'm not a racist, if you know me, I mean really know me, you'd know that I'm not a racist, in fact I have a few black friends, and if anyone has any disagreement with anything I said don't bother with trying to argue, I know I'm right and no matter what you say I won't be bothered with your petty squabbles and I know that I'm smart and I don't need someone telling me of how you think I'm stupid

@Anamialhouse, you are a biggot, and the poster child for racism. It's just a song and you and you bring race, gender benders, and hating white people who don't believe like you. Did you know, Andy and Ray happen yo be great friends that had different opinions, not hatred. If you would loses your hatred for white people you might understand it's actually healthily to not agree 100% to be close friends. You are the mean spirited, racist biggot, that should be called out. Deal with it!

It's hilarious. Ray Stevens likely hates everything Andy Griffith actually stood for as a man and is, instead, idealizing a fictional television character (which was STILL based off of Andy Griffith the man) without a hint of irony. This song is sad, alright, but it's because of how far Ray Stevens has fallen. He's drank so much Kool-Aid that he assumes everything "wholesome" is conservative/Tea Bagger. BZZZZT. Wrong. Andy Griffith was a liberal. Shows how ignorant Tea Baggers can be.

The irony here being that Andy Griffith, who lived a clean, decent, good life, was a life-long liberal Democrat and Ray Stevens is a mean-spirited "Tea Party" type who spends just about more time ranting and raving about Obama's birth certificate and saying mean things about poor people, minorities, etc. than he does making funny songs these days. We could definitely use a few more Andy Griffiths and a few less Ray Stevens. Give it a rest, Ray! Go back to being funny!

We don't hate white people. We hate regressive, simple minded idiots that try to stick their noses in everyone's bedrooms and wants to force us to worship the way they want us to. Guess who most of those tend to be? Hint: white.

I grew up in a country where you put a dozen teens and 5 inner tubes in the pickup and headed off the the Lewis River. Of course you could swim in then. And we did not have a WHITE hating nanny state.

Anyone favoring either "side" is a dolt. Misanthropy and nihilism has taken the place of any logical politics if you have at least half a brain. The proof is everywhere you look.

Im 57, grew up in a small town and loved every minute of it. I would gladly go back if I could. We didnt have a new car ever or go to Hawaii on vacation but we had fun. Summers we fished went swimming and rode innertubes on the river (no life jackets) rode bikes (no helmets) family camping trips and explored. We had 3 channels watched less than 2 hrs of TV a day in B&W for many years. We did chores. We were expected to do good in school or it was our fault not the teacher. hte good old days

@davealexander73 I don't know, the way I hear it 9 times out of 10 she was shamed into being quiet, or just outright blamed for being a tease.
