Ray Charles - I Can Make It Thru The Day (But Oh Those Lonely Nights)

Girl, I'm so lonesome tonight

I was just lying here wondering where you are

And what you're doing

And Lord knows the thing that worries me most is

Who you're doing it with

That's why, if you don't mind

I'd like to sing these words to you, you see

I've got new books to read

But they ain't what I need

And this picture of you

Just won't do, no, no, baby

And the postcards you send

Would never, never mend

The pain in my heart

When we're apart

Girl, I can make it thru the day

Say but oh, please help me thru the lonely nights

Well, and honey, I think you ought to know this too

When I'm on my job

It's not too hard

But when I go home

And I'm all alone

And I'm by myself, baby, you heard me

You know you're my crutch

I need your sweet touch

Then it gets under the night time again

Lord, when will it end?

I make it thru the day, girl

Say, but oh, you just don't know nothing about the lonely nights

Somebody help me out there

And girl, I've got to say this to you

Sometimes I even talk to myself, I say

Well now night, go away

Please hurry up, day

Cause my night light burns

And I toss and turn

You see, I just can't sleep at night no more, girl

And tell me

What would I see if I turned on TV?

I don't know what to do

Lord knows I need me some you

I make it thru the day, girl, yes I do

Please help me thru the lonely nights.

Having the blues acknowledges the pain, the loss, the hurt. Once you know what it is and realize that your not alone in being lonely, it feels better. It makes it feel better to cry a little, especially with a good voice and some rhythm. I ll make it thru my day too.

I can only assume you've experienced being lonely. You've never experienced the heartache it causes. In some cases, changing music genres ain't enough. Try walking in Ray's shoes.

Self-pity is only in our minds if only we allow it so. Maybe another genre of music will make you feel better.Try it. Always look at the bright side of life.

Self pity put to music. Extremely well done, but not to be listened to just after a divorce, while drinking, or if you are having suicidal thoughts.
