Very few re-makes ever cut the mustard, and this sure doesn't, either. Dark, disappointed disillusionment may reach out to millions of similarly afflicted souls, but it berely makes it as a parody. No passion, no style, no ability to carry a tune........just terminal disappointment.

Except it achieves neither of those things; nor does it actually speak to the message of the song itself. There is no soul in this rendition; no point at which I empathize with the artist or even believe what she is saying. I have nothing against "dark and somber" music - I was part of the dismal crowd dressed in all black and swaying to this very stuff over twenty years ago - but if you're going to rebrand a song, you need to make sure you're still saying something with it. This is just words.

This has none of the passion and delivers none of the sincerity the original possessed. This sounds like a woman who has no idea what it is like to struggle in a world where women are second class citizens trying to make themselves heard in a misogynistic patriarchy. I give them kudos for reviving a classic, but no points for delivery.
