The brilliant Rare Bird song Peace Of Mind taken from their last album Born Again esoteric remaster. Lyrics below.....

Always standing there in the morning sun

The silent questions turn my eyes

By the light in the distance and from cloudy skies

You're waiting for someone who gives advice

Yeah, you're waiting for the man who tells no lies

You will find Peace of Mind

Like you never felt before

That you thought you'd left behind

You will find Peace of Mind

That will open up the door

That was always closed before

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Always reaching out for the help you need

The way life takes you here this day

Your happiness, is all i seek

But my time is running shorter than ahead

And i hope you make it through safe, and yet

You will find Peace of Mind

Like you never felt before

That you thought you'd left behind

You will find Peace of Mind

That will open up the door

That was always closed before

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

I tried to show you what was right or wrong

Remember what the old man used to say

You can find a rhyme and you can sing along

And i'll make it back to see you anyway

So i say goodbye and meet another day

You will find Peace of Mind

Like you never felt before

That you thought you'd left behind

You will find Peace of Mind

That will open up the door

That was always closed before

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

You will find Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind........Oh

For Mark R. Yes, I am a black girl that attended Southwest on Kingshighway. Took art and Spanish the whole time I was there, so we must have known each other. Mr Wones submitted a painting of mine and I won an art award for it. Once, me and some other class mates started singing to "Old Black Water" by the Doobies and he turned off the radio for a few days. Fun times. I painted the the wall of the esplanade too. Fun Times

Puzzled/amused by the St. Louis/KSHE connection here; I mean, is this the ONLY place this song received any airplay (though must admit that's where I first heard it, too)? Never has this nearly forgotten classic sounded better, perhaps because of all the nonsense (Slipknot---cough! cough!) that has come down the pike since. Utterly lacking in pretense, this track has a crystalline beauty to it, from its haunting organ/guitar riff to its pure, unadorned vocals. Thanks for posting this!

You were that black girl i use to talk to in High school! I was that cute White Boy! Did you take Spanish class also? I did! I didn't like most of the teachers or the principal and his staff! Rednecks! I am the guy who painted the whole smoking lounge in sky blue with clouds i painted! I didn't smoke cigarettes! Just the good stuff! L.o.l. School dances and lots of fun! Kings Hwy. at Arsenal St.!

i think i might of been in that Art Class! The teacher had brown hair his name was Mr. Charles Wones! Right? Remember the White paste Jars with that funny smell! Some kids ate that shit! I was in a School Art Award contest for drawing a Hamburger! I placed 2nd. and got the Blue Ribbon and the Gold Key Award! I was the kid with the Long light brown hair! Really Long Hair!

Brings back great memories of KSHE and all the great songs of the 70's. What a fantastic song.

Always waited for this song to be played in Southwest High School art class, while listening to a FM rock station in STL around 74. Been one of my faves, go to anthems. I can smell the clay.

Knowing Rare Bird was not at all rare if you were lucky enough to live in the right city. In St. Louis we had (and have) KSHE. For us, and I'm sure for folks in many other cities, Rare Bird was just another band our leading radio station played with reverence.

Thank you so much for posting this song. It was always one of my favorite KSHE classics. Ha, I spent all my spare time in my room, listening to the radio with the lights off, full of teen angst. Who knew that at some point in my life I'd be grateful for those days that taught me the importance of music.
