Yeah, real romantic. Unless you've been stalked, and I was, for a decade by my first husband. I got a break for a year while he did time for beating a girlfriend he had about a year after our divorce & came right back at me when he was out. I was a DJ at a country station for a year - I love Randy Travis- and I know this song came out years ago, way before stalking became this weird epidemic - a broken psychological way to intimidate someone into "love"- was well publicized. With all due respect? To answer the question "what'll you do about me?" : lets see.. Restraining order, divorce papers, changed my number and my locks...and you're still on my porch with a two by two? Meet my friends smith and Wesson." Bam.

While I empathize with your daughter's plight, I will simply point out that you read too much into this song.

Thing is, I'm sure most of you guys just see it as persuasion & convincing thing & not threatening, but I'm the mom of a 16 y/o that went out with a crazy SOB ONCE, found out he was 23 & said no to more. He constantly pinned her against the breakroom wall at work. Assaulted her further. Many letters, calls, drive bys, etc - all with threats. In court he told the RO granting judge "You can't do that!" 11 years later, he still drives by & comes into her work. Stalking is truly not a joking matter.

Ran out of space. Don't get me wrong, I love him. I just think the song sux. Folks are allowed a crappy song now & again. There's a reason this one wasn't popular.

Gunpowder & Lead - he's getting out of jail after BEATING the hell out of her & is coming to KILL her & she'll defend herself. Before He Cheats is wrong. The car didn't do anything. Still the guy CHEATED. How is this is even close? She said no to more than a 1 night stand same as he could have, Let me guess though, she doesn't have the right to say no? He would I bet, but not her? I'm serious. "call your lawyer" "call the fuzz" "on the porch with a 2x2" - so a guy could do this to your daughter?

Damn right. They've got their two man hating songs in Gunpowder and Lead and Before He Cheats.

Ah, yes -- a cute, catchy tune about obsessive stalking. My answer the musical question "What'll you do about me?" is "Get a gun and shoot your stalking ass."
