For a long time, I wasn't sure who sang this. I assumed it was Dee Dee, but he adopts a completely different voice than most of the songs he sings lead on. It's actually very poetic, elegaic, even, and seems to have some sort of deep message, unlike, say Wart Hog...

yeah man, honestly punk and metal are incredibly similar. the big metal bands and big punk bands are both influenced by the same 50's and 60's bands, they just did two different takes on the same influences. but i see what your saying, it does sound a bit like rainbow in the dark
