That's pretty cool you were able to travel out West and see those bands. I'd guess the novelty of being far from home made it even more fun. I'm a few years younger than you and while I was only able to see a handful of amazing shows in clubland Atlanta (Fleshtones, Replacements, RHCP) I still hold very fond memories of these albums. Stoked about seeing Rain Parade this weekend here!

This was a freakin amzing time in the LA music scene. You had great punk bands (e.g. X), ska bands (Fishbone), neo funk bands (RHCP's), metal (the Mentors) and the Paisley Underground (Rain Parade, Three O'Clock, Bangles), and these bands were often on the same bills. l was living in the midwest, but made several summer trips to LA and spent every night watching great local and national touring bands there. As I am about to turn 50, I would give almost anything to go back and visit that time
