They started as NWOBHM but it was way more black than any of the other bands , satanic lyrics and dark atmosphere. Then they mixed it with thrash. Still True Black Metal Band ! Look outside the box , they are responsible for everything black we have \m/ .RESPECT!10 years ago

venom is thrash metal you dumb... they just made a very underground album and deicide tu put the name black metal, and another bands more underground that loves venom apply the name in their bands. But Venom is THRASH metal, and its very easy to identify11 years ago

Venom coined the term Black Metal, but they themselves are pro to-black metal at best. they're more like speed/thrash metal and were part of the NWOBHM. This is Black Metal. 2nd wave, if you want to get really specific and count the proto-black metal bands as the first wave.11 years ago
