In my opinion the bass is pretty easy when you start because you learn to play the easy songs, than i think its easier than playing guitar in the beginning, but when you are getting on a higher level with the bass i think its even harder. And about the rock music is also true because alot of populair rock bands well mostly emo have got really easy bass lines. This cover was amazing i like almost watched all of his videos lol.

Some bass is easy but funk and metal bass can be much harder than any other instruments. i play in a band and we were all learning a song and the bass took me almost and hour to learn about a minutes worth of the song cause it was so hard

Simple bass lines are easy, sure, and in rock that's all you see. But take a look at some funk music, music with REAL bass, not just easy bass lines. Don't go making generalizations like that.
