people who comments on the 'flaws' in her voice are you being serious right now? I'm a hard critic of undeserving fame like have you heard Selena Gomez live for example? it's horrible. rachel platten on the other hand has a beautiful soul. her voice may not be the strongest but her art is genuine. her art is not voice perfection or sexual appeal, her art is she speaks the voice of the soul which is what music is supposed to be. she sings with the voice of someone sitting in front of you to tell you it's okay. and despite me appreciating strong vocals, when it comes to people like Rachel Platten who is true to her art and soul, I prefer the calm loving voice she sings with rather than trying to sing at the top of her lungs just to fit the vocal expectations. there's empathy in her tone, not techniques. and sometimes that's better for a change. when you hear a song sung by a person like her, and you feel affected positively by it, techniques can go out the window. she is special for being genuine even when it's no longer popular, her work pulls people back to being a human being while the rest of the music industry sings pretentious songs about not giving a damn about life etc. we need more rachel platten and if you want to talk about vocal flaws start with Chainsmokers live, Selena Gomez live etc. even their music and lyrics are shit. you donf feel any connection to your soul. most songs nowadays just want to connect you to your (or others) genitals. and the reason people like it is the beat of the song which btw is automated. talent is when you can still make a beautiful song without relying on the beat, but on your lyrics and music. here, the imperfection in her voice is genuine just like the song. there's no flaw here. there's just a human being who wants to lift up the world with her voice.
