Ra Ra Riot - Oh, La from "The Rhumb Line"

lryics:

Say a word that's quiet, not half the way there

Somedays our future...it seems to hang on so tight

"Come quickly now the air hangs heavily today"

"Oh no, but what is that crimson in the shade?"

Oh la we've got a lot to learn from each other,

We've got to stick together.

Oh la we've got a lot to learn from each other,

We've got to stick together.

I wouldn't say the word now but this is not what I meant,

For a woman that's fallen over head and ears

And still so warm, but I'm lonely too,

Suddenly she is still and says, "I hope that things will be better here."

Oh la we've got a lot to learn from each other,

We've got to stick together.

Oh la we've got a lot to learn from each other,

We've got to stick together.

All this arguing is so stupid, music is for any age and anyone, shut the fuck up thinking you know everything and just enjoy it.

I think older people think we are confined to what has come out during our generations, like it was for them. Another example like my previous comment. I bought a David Bowie shirt from the Gap outlet, and i've had plenty of older people primarly in their 50s+ ask if I "really" listen to Bowie. When I reply "Yes, and Ziggy Stardust isnt even my favorite album" (because thats the big one) they seem shocked sometimes. *sigh*

You can disagree with it all you want, but it won't make it any less true. The majority of the music I listened to in my teens is now awful, but at the time I thought it was great. As I AGE and add more artists and genres to my catalogue, the bar for great music is continually being raised higher and higher. But you just keep thinking that being 18 and claiming this wealth of musical knowledge (that cannot be confirmed) makes you right.

I am 24 and know far more about music than most "older" folk I come across. The beauty of the internet is using it like a time machine, we can now listen to whatever we want. From whatever era we want. From whatever country we want. Those of us addicted to music listen to it all. I was listening to Charles Mingus in my car this weekend and my father asked "WHAT IS THIS!? U LISTEN TO JAZZ!?" Yes old man, I do.

Completely disagreed. Who's to say that age defines what's educated, and what's not? I'm 18 and have gone through more music genres than you probably will in your lifetime. It's not based on AGE, it's based on how often you listen to music, which is relative to the individual. You're using an invalid universal argument that with more age comes more music, which is simply just not true because like i said, it depends on the individual and their experience with different genres.

Haha y'all are hippy pricks. Young people have the right to have an opinion and express it. I have a wife and kids and I believe in the power and influence of youngsters.

It's "read" not "heard."

Sure, young people have the "right" to an opinion, but that doesn't make it an EDUCATED opinion. The more music you listen to (which comes with age) the more educated you will be about music in general. I know it's really fun to think you know everything when you're in your 20s (I remember quite well), but the truth is those people know quite a lot less than they think they do.

Get off your high horse mate. Kids (and adults) under 30 have every right to have their opinon on and share music. That's what it is all about. evoking a response, an emotion, a reaction. It isn't up to anyone to decree who can and cant do this. loosen up and :)

If you are under the age of 30, you should NOT critique or compare music. Under any circumstances.
