1983 was a special year for me - it was the year that I got my first guitar. One of the albums that was very inspirational to me in those early days was Metal Health from Quiet Riot. It is a true 80's classic... by today's standards, it would probably be considered "hard rock" and not "metal," but in the early 80s the line between metal and hard rock was sometimes blurred (this would all change by the mid 80s when opposing bands like Slayer and Poison created a huge divide). Metal Health was considered QR's debut, but in reality they had a few Japanese releases prior (noted for having Randy Rhoads on guitar, before Randy left to join Ozzy's band). The video in the background is taken from the infamous "Us Festival" in 1983 (I tried my best to splice it up and fit it against the un-official backing track I used). The festival was a three day event that took place near San Bernadino, California, sponsored by Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak. Day three was "Heavy Metal" day and featured bands Van Halen, Scorpions, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Triumph, Motley Crue, and Quiet Riot. Van Halen were the headliners and earned a record (at the time) $1.5 million for their performance. Quiet Riot and Motley Crue were considered the up-and-comers of that day, and you can imagine how amazing it must have been for them to be there. Watch for some kick ass posing from bass legend Rudy Sarzo after the guitar solo LOL. :)
I used a backing track that had vocals/bass/drums, I think it might be from Guitar Hero. All of the guitars you can hear are me. I hope you enjoy! :)
