Brilliance...that's what Geoff Tate delivers; every time!!No other types of words or comments should be tolerated when one gives it their best shot. Especially when performed with such tenderness & love ~ Peace

It's nice to see Geoff getting some support again and some of the hate dying down. He's still got it. Yes, his voice changed over the years and unless you're Ronnie James Dio (freak of nature) that tends to happen. Geoff is a baritone. That fifth octave he managed in his 20s is unnatural for a typical baritone. As his voice matured and he no longer had that youthful energy of course he'd lose it. Who the hell cares though? A good voice is not all about range. Geoff Tate remains one of the greatest vocalists out there.

It wasn't 75%. A decade is a long time. I have seen them at least ten times or more in the last few years and he was great every time. A little rough on the solo tour. It was his 18th show/night in a row. Saw him a couple months ago on the 25th anniversary tour and he nailed it perfectly no down tuning. I'm certainly not the only person who heard it that way, both at the show I attended and also the thousands of rave reviews from other fans who saw the tour.

"Some" rough spots? If you consider about 75% of the show "rough" spots, okay. Look, I'm not asking him to have the range that he did in the 80s. That would be unfair of me. But compare what you see/hear in Rocklahoma to, for example, some of the videos from Live Evolution in 2001, particularly Take Hold Of The Flame. Not as intense as in the 80s, but sung with a whole lot of passion, and you know what? It sounds great. That was only about a decade ago; no excuse for such a poor degradation.

ur right about Rocklahoma. there are some pretty rough spots. it happens. it's not about keeping a voice "in shape". you clearly know little about how a male vocal matures. The vocal chords themselves become thicker and a little drier no matter what you do. You do that kind of material for thirty years, tour for a year doing 3-4 shows a week and see if you don't have a rough show once in a while.

you are correct about the fifth register. happens to pretty much all male vocalists. everything else on this latest tour was right on the money. he sang OMC all the way through, perfectly and without tuning down.

hopefully without getting into an argument. many of those who attended the show agreed with his comments. in addition, I'm a 20 year fan, have seen every full OMC tour at least 5 times, the original one 7 times. Saw him just a couple months ago for anniversary. Was it "the same"? no. Was he as good as he has ever been? yes. there are thousands of rave reviews of the anniversary tour all over the online pages and for good reason. He sang omc perfectly and without tuning down.

On a positive note, Micheal Wilton still rocks. I didn't think vocally the performance was terrible, much better than most modern rock/pop artists could do. But we Ryche fans have come to expect a much higher level than Tate delivered that night. MUCH higher. As a fan its sad to watch a once superb vocalist go down hill as he has.

You clearly did not seem them lve in the 80's-90's for things like Rage for Order, Operation LiveCrime, Empire or Promised Land. He sings ok these days. But no where near to back in the day. That is not hate, that is fact. He has had to adapt the songs to what he has left. That C5-G5 range just isn't there. Many claim Empire crushed a lot of that range, and if you notice, after that album and tour, he kept his vocals up there to a minimum at best. Those 5's are hard on a baritone.

ahahhahaha. what the hell are u talking about? Last time i saw him on stage I would have cried for how he destroyed queensryche's songs. He was the gratest. Now he is an average singer

I remember I saw him singing this while Chris was on the piano back in 97. Everything seemed OK, so I could never think that Chris would leave the band a few monts after it.

Folks this is 2012 he fucking nailed this and if you have not seen this last tour he did then all you fucking haters need to shut the fuck up, his voice is stronger than ever and maybe its because he is with a band that gives a shit about working hard and not sitting aroud collecting a paycheck.

This has always been my favorite QRyche song for my own personal reasons. THIS is what has been missing Geoff. THIS. It's not the voice,it's not the band..it's the PASSION. I feel it here..

Geoff, Geoff, Todd, Todd. I don't give a shit. I have always loved Queensryche since the first time I heard Roads to Madness back in the eighties. I ran out and picked up The Warning and Rage for Order (which had just been released at the time) and have been almost obsessive about them since. The new Ryche is sweet, but my heart remembers the times when I watched Geoff and Chris singing together.
