Put the needle to the record pulled out of the discard bin at my college radio station in fall 1973. Blew me away. Carried it back to the dorm and wore it out, and bought everything Queen since. Converted them all. This song in particular showed off the range and musicianship of these 4 incredible talents. May's guitar work on this is unbelievable. Mercury's vocals, well, you know.

The harmonizing guitar at 1:13 is as sexy as a morning love session with Jenny Garth!

I saw them in '74 in The Hague, they played of course only songs from their first 3 albums and for me that was their best concert ever

Methinks you haven't listened to either album properly...Jazz is a great album as is Day at the Races, which has the brilliant, TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN, YOU AND I and GOOD OLD FASHIONED LOVER BOY on it....

@HDStandUp I had 'Day at the Races' & 'Jazz'. It's ironic how you quote all the worst songs. 'White Man' and 'You take my breath away' are basically fillers, nothing more. The only good song on that album is 'Teo Torriate (Let us Cling Together)'. As for 'Jazz', the songs you have mentioned are laughable. The only good songs on that are 'Fat Bottomed Girls', and 'More of that Jazz'. None of their later stuff is as good as Modern Times Rock'n'Roll, Brighton Rock, Liar or Tenement Funster.

@alphabetgreen1996 "Mediocre"?? That shouldn't even be in the same sentence as "Queen". A day at the races is "Mediocre"? Really? Have you heard somebody to love, the millionaire waltz, good old fashioned lover boy, white man, tie your mother down, and you take my breath away? If you have, then "A Day at the Races" is one of the best albums of all time. And Jazz too? have you heard Dreamers Ball? Don't stop me now? Dead on time? let me entertain you? Jealousy? And hot space had "Under Pressure"

@Smarty4789 True, it wasn't well recieved by the public because of how different it was compared to their earlier works. It was experimental, and was criticized heavily for it. While it wasn't a strong album, at least it showed some of the Queen's creativity and ingenuity. I wouldn't say it is a complete flop. The album influenced Michael Jackson's Thriller. There are stark similarities in style between Hot Space and Thriller. That's what I liked about Hot Space; the funkiness.
