"Amie" by PPL with full lyrics

I can see why you think you belong to me,

I never try to make you think, or let you see one thing for yourself,

But now you're off with someone else and I'm alone,

You see I thought that I might keep you for my own,

Amie What you wanna do?

I think I could stay with you,

For a while, maybe longer if I do,

Don't you think the time is right for us to find,

All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time and can you see,

Which way we should turn, together or alone,

I can never see what's right or what is wrong,

Will it take to long to see,

Amie what you wanna do?

I think I could stay with you,

For a while maybe longer if I do,

(Acoustic Solo)

Well now, Amie what you wanna do?

I think I could stay with you,

For a while, maybe longer if I do,

Now it's come to what you want you've had your way,

All the things you thought before just faded into gray and can you see,

That I don't know if it's you or if it's me,

If it's one of us I'm sure we both will see,

Won't you look at me and tell me,

Amie what you wanna do?

I think I could stay with you,

For a while maybe longer if I, longer if I do yeah now,

Amie what you wanna do?

I think I could stay with you,

For a while maybe longer if I do, I keep

Falling in and out of love with you,

Falling in and out of love with you,

Don't know what I'm gonna do, I keep

Falling in and out of love with you

Love the harmonies here. My daughter's name is Emily, but when I sing this to her I sing Emie. She's 18 and I still sing this to her.

On Dec 23rd, 1978, my oldest son was born. For the first year of his life, he was so sick....almost lost him several times. He would cry day and night, constantly. We found that the only thing that would settle him down was when I played my one and only album at that time, which was Pure Prairie League, and the first cut, which of course, was Amie. Every time we played that song, and only that song, my son would go to sleep. I looked at my wife and said, if we ever have a daughter, I'm going to name her Amie. My daughter Amie was born a year and 4 days later on Dec 27, 1979. Thanks PPL. BTW, my son is married now with a beautiful little girl of his own, and healthy. Amie has an amazing son Jacob, and both are strong, healthy, and happy.

top five of my dad's band's most played songs. He's been dead for 20 years, as has the band, but fuck if I don't remember practice sessions when I was a little kid. Good shit. Good shit.

I was named after this song! My name was spelled "Amy" until I was 2 weeks old and my parents went and bought the album and realized it was "Amie" then had it legally changed. My father still plays this on his guitar for me to this day. Love it!!

shortly after my dad had moved to ohio from virginia, he was kicked out of school for the day for beating a kid who was trying to bully him, he had only been living in ohio for like a week so he had no idea how to get home, but he knew if he got to the highway he could get home, so he walked up to this farmhouse next to the highway and asked these hippies who were sitting on the porch if he could cut across their land, and them being nice folk, let him, and even invited him in for a bite to eat and a glass of water. when he got inside he realized that the hippies were all in a band, and as he left they handed him a signed copy of their album, That summer the band had their first big hit song, "amie" the band was pure prairie league and my dad met them before they got famous.
