So, does anyone else think of Miranda in The Collector when they hear this song?

no you're quite right you didn't. I didn't make myself quite clear there - sorry. It was Jarvis who compared being confronted with those old songs from the "new" Countdown album to the embarrassment that one might suffer if someone brought out the love letters they wrote when they were 15 and made them look at them again.

I never said he was embarrassed about anythin did i? What you on about?

KScottBowie01

No, he was talking about the Countdown album. Different Class wasn't a new album at the time that Jarvis appeard on TFI Friday; it had been released 6 or 7 months previously. Pulp were on the show to promote the fourth single from the album "Something Changed" (which I realise was originally written many years previously but that isn't what Jarvis was referring to. Why would he include it on the album and relesae it as a single if he was embarrassed about it?)

Yeah I know the Countdown album but he wasnt talkin about that. He was talkin about Different Class.

No, you're a little mistaken there. The "new album" which Chris Evans was referring to was a compilation of Pulp songs from the mid to late 1980s called "Countdown" (named after the song of the same name of course). I guess th record company put this out on the back of the success of Different Class so that the fans could get a taste of what came before. Jarvis spoke of how he was a little embarrassed about being made to listen to those old recordings again

Well he says they are old old songs... Anyway who gives a fuck . We love Pulp so that'll do.

Only "Something's Changed" can fall into that realm. All of the other's were written in context of the era.

Yes but if you listen to Jarvis in interviews when 'Different class' first came out , he says that he wrote the songs on that album years ago, in the early 80s. Chris Evans says on a TFI Friday interview 'your new album is selling well' and Jarvis replies 'It isnt new, I wrote the songs years ago'. They were old songs what he dug up. An amazing album!
