I understand why some compare them to a lot of the prominent grunge bands. It's to be expected. When they released their first EP in 1994, it was released during a peak in the grunge era. They're going to have that musical/grimy guitar sound influence regardless. That said, I do think Puddle of Mudd has their own sound and are completely different (in their own right) to a lot of the bands they're compared to.

I like them alot but it's clear they were overfunded in terms of the # of videos. There are more successful bands (e.g., chevelle) that couldn't hire as many models and crews.
