#14DaysofMusicChallengeDay 6- Country music.Pub with no beer- Slim Dusty.Australia has had a healthy Country music scene for many years, and the forefront of pioneers of country music here, was Slim Dusty, and his most endearing anthem called 'Pub with no beer'.Even though I'm not a country music fan, there's no denying a legend.Slim and as working on his 106th album when he passed away about 2003(I think), and won numerous golden guitar or other awards over 50 years of playing.There's another of Slim's songs that made general radio and music charts, as did 'pub with no beer', and it's called 'I'd love to have a beer with Duncan', from the mid 80s, it was a catchy jingle type song that appealed to many.

I'm from the United States and have had the pleasure of visiting Australia on many occasions. I love Slim Dusty and he is our equivalent to Hank Williams. I was driving between Gladestone and Rockhampton when I heard over the radio that Slim Dusty had passed away. I was so saddened. I stopped at the local pub between Rocky and Gladestone to have a beer. I told the bartender what I had heard over the radio and he was shocked! It was a very sad day for Australia and for this American. What a great country singer! We'll miss you Slim!
