Lyrics 'borrowed' from Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited album, that was not the first time the Furs 'borrowed' from that classic album. Saw the Furs at Hop Farm last year, they still rock.

I love them and get thei rmusic. Always have ;) Very romantic and ethereal lyrics, weird structures, and a vocal that is not really a vocal if you ask him. He didn't see himself as a singer'. Although, over time I think he started to sing his parts more as just that, a singer. The first two records were more punk and butler's voice was the gravel that made it unique.Towards the end he actaulyl started singing with more meotion and vocal tone quality. But by that time they had gotten very poppy.

Sort of going off the deep end with your analysis but on the surface you have some valid points. The simple answer is they never really fit into any assigned musical categories and because of that, they didn't and couldn't get the airplay and recognition they deserved. Unfair ?...... for sure but at that time there were many bands they could cry the same tune ....... and is it a coincidence the bands from that era that can still sound relevant today are exactly those bands? I think not.

What a deliciously haunting song. A lot of their tunes were misunderstood as being too light or shallow when in all reality they couldn't have have been more deep. They had the child like innocence of being "had" while at the same time the adult sophistication of "wisdom". The Furs flew over the heads of many people. If people truly understood how extremely dark & light they were they'd love this band more. But most human brains have a hard time with this wonderfully perplexing band.

Yesterday's complicated... Some now and some later. One of the girls you have to sayyyy. And you talk like a stranger, you long/hurt/thirst for a change and... They appease you, and coo you and love you so strange yeah! Oh and she's lonely she says... Out of a face that tells you take me home. Yes and she keeps on talking... I'm so blind and sleepwalking... --Probably my fav furs song ever.--

IM FUCKING LOVE THIS TUNE /WHAT A UNDERATED BAND!! BRINGS ME BACK TO THE DAY WHEN I WAS A COCKY KID BUT MY MUSIC I HAD THEN WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE SHIT NOW!!
