@gerrymoran - True, but the Stones ripped off so many impoverished blues artists they they have no reasonable right to claim royalties. Just as Richard Ashcroft. I'd say he has a Stones poster on a dart board. The Stones deserve to be ripped off.

They do cover Salt Of The Earth on the labum, but i dont thinks its anything like it to be honest. Proud Mary's version of SOTE is far better than the orginal in my opinion. The stones version is to slow.

I'd heard of Proud Mary through the cennection with Noel, but it was a free Q music cd that had Very Best Friend on, so without Q i may never have heard of them.

Really got to read Q mag for all these great bands that you never hear about in the mainstream. Shit, most of my favourite bands have been on the free CDs they hand out now and again...think along the lines of Mull historical society,Wilco, Mark Eitzel, the list goes on...
