Love A whiter Shade Of Pale but I think this tops it. Marvelous piece of progressive rock.

I can still remember how WEBN in Cincinnati used to play this song while doing the hourly news and then just let the rest of it play on once they finished reading off the news headlines.

In that period there were basically TWO SONGS that were played by many bands in Europe: "Repent Walpurgis" and "Hey mr.holy man"...The latter title was "Dies Irae" in the first album of an italian band called "Formula 3", while the former was Repent Walpurgis everywhere but was played (differently) and rearranged by groups like "The Shiver"...This kind of rock is called Psych-Rock or "late Psychedelia"...Was the "trait d'union" between proper Psychedelia and the new born Progressive Rock...

This must have been one of the earliest Stereo recordings made, fullstop.

Outstanding tune by a truly outstanding group. This extended track is the best take of this song. Trowers unmistakeable trademark shines through. Thanks for posting.

The band STILL forges on with Gary Brooker and a stellar and stable lineup. Favourite band.

He was asking about a band that covered this song. I don't think either of us expressed any negative opinions of Procol Harum, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

@spacepatrolman Sounds like most R&R bands that I'VE known from that era. Granted, some of their stuff had meaningless words. A lot of bands did that then, even Clapton (with Cream) and the Beatles ("I'm fixing a hole in the ocean"-??). Unorthodox meant attention in the media. I would be willing to bet that manager you were speaking to didn't last with them long. And history proved they could hang. Good dialouge, tho! I appreciate your insight :)
