I wonder exactly how much research anyone working on this bothered to do before saying "does the vault really exist" - you know considering the fact that Prince himself mentioned it in a radio interview in 1986. Ohh dear. I blame BBC cutbacks.

Prince may have tons of unreleased stuff stashed away, but I highly doubt there's another collection of songs on par with his albums 1999 or Purple Rain hidden away in there.

First thing he'd do if he got inside the vault would be to 'grab some tapes' ie: steal stuff. And people wonder why Prince is so anal about protecting his art

Prince is saving the vault for the Paradise! AS a Jehovah's Witness he will regale Jehovah forever with the talent Jehovah has bestowed on him! So give up looking or become a JW and join him in the New system that will be Jehovah's Kingdom!!!

generally, an artist releases music that is the best of the best. so maybe the recordings in this "vault" probably aren't worth taking out.

"Prince isn't necessarily thinking in terms of years or decades—he's thinking in terms of centuries." Yes, scholars will still be marvelling over the Mozartian harmonic structures of "Kiss", "Delirious" and "Purple Rain" in the year 2144. To be fair, Prince definitely deserves historical credit for popularizing the use of "4" to mean "for" and "u" for "you"... he was ahead of the curve on Twitterese by 30 years. Otherwise, this documentary is a tribute to the mystical powers of hype. A pop star who hasn't managed to come up with a genuinely interesting track since the early 1990s parlays his antics (sundry name changes, relationship problems, religious excursions and po-faced TV appearances) into the ongoing illusion that he's anything greater than a self-parodying act from the 1980s: wow. PS If "the vault" is full of treasures, why does Prince keep releasing recycled funk jams and lame mall rock instead...?
