And for those who care about this sort of thing, when EC goes into his solo, the fast part that almost sounds out of harmony represents Life: Confusion, things coming at you from every side - when he slows down, and plays thesad and mournful notes, that represents you realizing your time grows short, and the part of his solo at the end, where the music becomes so cleanand sweet represents your acceptance of Christ and being called home torest with Him.Next time, what the song "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT" is really talking about. If you don't know, it is really fun to find out. You will nod your head and sayOf Course. Duh.Later Gaters

An amazing man. I have seen his yacht the "blues guitar" in St. Martin. This man is all about recovery I worship him like the younger/older folks do .

That's hilarious! Basically he's saying he won't perform tonight but he and his band will. :D

@OnjiTheCat Cream was a better band, but Eric's live work was so fucking good when he was with Derek and the Dominos

I caught Derek and the Dominos 11-06-1970 at a small auditorium noted for its acoustics (McFarlin in Dallas on the SMU campus). Perhps the most incredible concert I have seen, and I have seen plenty. It was headlined as an Eric Clapton concert, which he did not like. The crowd actually booed at first when Clapton came out and said "Eric Clapton will not be appearing tonight, instead it will be Derek and the Dominos". Before long the crowd was going wild and dancing in their seats.

Derek & the Dominos,I think Clapton was thinking and playing at his best while in this band.

I just dig a different version of great song and great guitar player in different band. Derek and the Dominos is an appreciation that Bobby is a great keyboard player and singer / songwriter and Jim and Carl are top musicians 2. The sound of EC in this band doesn`t happen without these guys.

@OnjiTheCat I absolutely agree with you. The essence of Eric Clapton lies in Derek & the Dominos.

I have to side with the people who like it better with Winwood. and when they through in Steve Gadd on drums you truly have a super group. Its still a awesome rock and roll ballad.

i may say the guitar work is just awesome here...vocals not so much, steve winwood is a very soulful singer, so that goes to the studio version.

I was lucky enough to Steve and EC live in ....about '75. They did this song

@MultiShades - I always preferred the solo on here to the two previous recordings by Blind Faith. The vocals are weaker, though.

the version with Blind Faith seems to have so much more depth! maybe Steve Winwood's trusty Hammond!! still a brilliant number though!
