Protest Songs, Swoon and Steve McQueen are not only their best albums but also some of the best albums of all time.

I liked Protest Songs because Paddy stripped it down again, but Songs Written Out Of Necessity (Swoon) is their best album.

Unfortunately the song's not very well known in Dublin :-( I was 21 before i even heard of this song and thats only because i got hugely into Prefab Sprout

Protest Songs was maybe their best album, on par with Steve McQueen. Pearly Gates is amazing.

I'm from Dublin....five generations in this town. I love the Sprouts and some U2. You visited the wrong places luv. Gotta get out beyond the Fromers. ;-))

This song totally obliterates me.

Probably my favorite PS song. When I was in Dublin I asked about Paddy and this song, and usually the response was puzzlement--apparently, the fact that he lives in England keeps him off the radar there--unlike the wretched U2, who are still considered local heroes.

I'm a Yank. This is my favorite 80's band. I've seen so many passion filled comments here that I think are from Europeans. Thanks so much for Paddy. Maybe the greatest lyricist I've ever heard. How great are they? The music is even better. Long live Prefab Sprout.

Put this on a compilation cd for my uncle and he said he can't stand this song! Unbelievable right?!! He thought the chorus was 'Doubloon'!! ha!
