Precious memories give us a picture of God our Father and His love for us. When I was a child, my father, a milkman, would pass by my grade school in his milk truck right when school was letting out. Knowing that his next stop would be at the little grocery store at the bottom of the hill, my sister and I would call to our friends, "Come on! Dad will buy us something!" We'd then run with metal lunch pails knocking knobby knees down to the store and surround my father as he worked. He would stop what he was doing, and with a smile, empty his pockets of change treating us all to a bit of candy. In this way, my father taught me about the grace of God, undeserved but freely given.

I'd like to encourage anyone commenting on this video to relate their own precious memory.

The song by Patty Loveles can be found on the "How Great Thou Art" CD and purchased from ITunes.

I saw Patty Loveless twice in concert. Her voice is inimitable. She sings from her soul. Love her choice of songs. Thanks again, Beanscot.

My precious father and loving mother were married for 60 years. They passed in 1997 within two weeks of each other.Whenever I hear this song I am indeed flooded with precious memories.

I have to say this...when so many people waste their God given talents, Patty doesn't. When she sings, it's like she's thanking God for what he gave her and we all get to listen. Special, special talent. I don't normally talk about religion but too many people do fritter it all away- never appreciating what they could do.

reading your comments are breaking my heart and yes, Patty is special. Listening to her here, makes me wonder where all the years went. When I was a kid in the 70s-80s, I used to play all the hymns on the piano and my whole family would gather around to sing, except my dad. He'd just sit and enjoy. I'm crying for those days.

My dad was a coal miner. He would take a mason jar of pinto beans and a biscuit for lunch. If mother put in a moon pie or oatmeal pie he would save it for us to find. We would all get a bite (there was 6 of us.I can still remember the smell of that lunch box He passed in 1996. Precious indeed.

This brings back memories of Eastern Ky in the early forties. We didn't have anything, but somehow, I didn't feel poor.

My Momma has been gone for a little while now. i miss her soo soo much. I never got to really tell her how much I loved her and say goodbye. I will always remember her nuzzling my hair when she hugged me and pinching my cheek. She was the best Momma ever! I will miss her sweet Hillbilly charm and carry on the Bluegrass and biscuits and gravy...The last time she got to visit, I came home from taking her to the airport and I found her Georgio perfume bottle that she left behind for me to find. That was the last time I seen her. I treasure that bottle of perfume, I take the lid off everyday and smell the precious memories of my sweet Momma...
