A lil rock n soul ft John Oates. A time where glitter mouse boots and denim and do wop were all the rage... #hallandoates #dowop #possessionobessionPossession Obsession (1988) - Hall & OatesCheck out this video on YouTube:

I have watched every hall & oates interview I could find and one thing that I find rare is the healthy attitude these guys have for each other. Each one appreciates the other and has not let petty jealousy come into the relationship. I've heard Daryl praise the writing and the unique ability that John has to find the perfect note when harmonizing. I've also heard John remark on Daryl's extraordinary vocal range and he was glad that Daryl had the gift of entertaining because he tends to be more introverted. Maybe that is why they were so successful. John in no way ever express that he felt Daryl was egotistical. Both of them valued what they contributed as well as the contributions of the other members if the band.

This should be required viewing for those H&O fans who discovered the band in the 80s and thought John was just along for the ride. No guitar and no discussion... just John, out front with the mike, rocking the actual hell out of Possession Obsession with a killer range and a pair of sweet tight jeans (Sigh... Dear God!). Way awesome. Love it!

John is one fantastic singer and the studio version to this really stinks and the released video to it also...!!!!. - So please guys start releasing all the sound tracks from the Concerts in Hong Kong onto New Cd's and other concerts because your heart and soul really give your Video Taped Concerts a real blast... Another is It's A Laugh, Sara Smiles.. Far Superior to the Studio Version.... BIG Please Daryl & John.... !!!!!

Check out the live 'BeBop Drop' clip from 1979 that is found elsewhere on here. Even as a dyed in the wool John fan, this was a revelation when first I saw it a number of years back. It's here on Youtube and easy to find: Bebop/Drop! I wish they would do more of the co lead vocals like on Whole Oates and Abandonned Luncheonette. They sound so free and fun and together!

I attended Temple University and John Oates was a Journalism major at Temple. Glad to see that egomaniac Daryl Hall let nice guy John sign lead on a song.

WOW! Loved it! I had never seen John in the forefront w/o the guitar. He is an even better singer than I thought. What a way to share the spotlight Darryl!
