"I know every lyric of The Decline". I hope thats a NOFX reference. Knowing POS it probably is. awesome.

And he seems to "beat an idea over" our heads because few people see what he means. Which is why what he says connects so intensely with his audience. He speaks to a group of people who don't really fit with the norm because the norm is to buy into all this bullshit. He speaks to a group of people tired of having the idea that we need these objects or those leading figures to live a happy life beat over our heads through any source of media available

But that's the whole point of Rhymesayers. Yeah, they have huge meaning. And yeah, a lot of it is obvious. But they want you to take out of it what it means for you. At least that site has a knack for pointing towards ideas they may be saying. The point is that P.O.S. is known as an anarchist. No kings ever. This includes any god humans feel they need to follow. And Kanye, not only advocating a religious god, but the worship of material (oh, irony), is an easy antagonist of such a mindset.

Those lyrics are off, a little. Regardless, what's your point? People have an annoying habit of placing what they WANT a rapper to mean as the explanation on Rap Genuis.

"And I ain't no casualty with a spotless morality My dirt may have to cover up my grave But I keep my fear of FAITH and filth clutter up my cave Got me lookin for disinfectant I don't know how to behave." Drumroll - P.O.S. look up the lyrics on Rap Genius.

On Another note, he's made songs about child abuse, poverty, optimism, damaged love, crew shit, his son, growing up, his friends, pressures to sell out, touring, DIY ethic, that fucking "wag" movement, all that shit.

P.O.S isn't really all that esoteric to me, just vague and dense at the same time. Note that I didn't say deep and complex. Beating the consumer over the head with the plot is considered a bad thing in story-writing. So what if there's some political/social commentary, is there no room for that in Hip-hop? Kanye is either bragging, showing off, or pretending to be ashamed about bragging and showing off. And I can actually PREDICT his puns and punchlines. I've never heard him bash religion, BTW.

kanye thinks he is really cool and a great artist. But his music is "artistic" without being presented as though only an elite group of people can understand it. However this guy's music is all about looking down on society. every song ive heard by him is about stuff like being against materialism and religion. he actually non ironically had a line that was "i'll be discussing cristopher hitchens." like really? really?

Dude, I got my beefs with this album, but P.O.S definitely ain't pretentious, nothing about the way he raps or carries himself is pretentious. It's almost brutally obvious to anyone who isn't deluded that Kanye is almost literally in love with himself on the other hand. Everything Kanye does, even beyond his music is self-important, and he fakes humility by half-heartedly taking the piss out of himself for "flossin'"
