I had this great music video idea for this song that doesn't involve going 100 years into the future.So there is this lonely kid who has very little self esteem. He stays in his basement all day and very rarely goes outside. He's says that he's fine but truthfully he's lonely on the inside and has never really had a proper friend.Everyday after school, he would run to the junk yard because it's the only place he can get away from people. One of these days however, he finds and old computer labeled "sad machine" and he decides to take it home.He boots it up and to his utter surprise the "sad machine" has some sense of consciousness. It asks "is anyone there? Oh-hi" and pretty soon the computer and the kid become best friends.One day at school, this new girl comes and takes a seat beside him. Despite everyone else thinking the kid is some nutjob, she sees the kid for who he is and introduces herself. They become friends.Back at home, the kid tells the computer about how he met this girl at school today. The "sad machine" listens as the kid gushes to tell it the things that they did together and how he had so much fun.As you would expect, the kid starts falling in love for this girl.One day the kid comes home to the computer, and starts bawling his eyes out. He tells the "sad machine" that he loves her, but knows that he will never be good enough for her. The machine, having faith in her best friend (the kid), knows better and assures the kid that he is good enough for her. She encourages him by saying that she depends on him, and that the girl he likes also does too.The computer also tells him that "she'll go on", basically move on if he doesn't ask soon.So the kid does ask the next day, but gets ultimately rejected by her.The kid, absolutely heartbroken, goes to his best friend (the sad machine) and blames her for ruining his relationship with the girl, and in sudden fit of rage he turns the computer off. Horrified at what he had done he turns the computer back on, only to find that the AI is no longer there, completely wiped out.Realizing that not only did he lose the girl of his dreams, but also now his best friend, he breaks down and starts crying.A year later, after trying everything to fix his best friend, he gives up and takes her back to the junk yard. He apologizes to the computer and before leaving take one last look at it, realizing that the computer was never really the "sad machine", but rather himself.
