I've been trying to get into this band for like a week now, and I consistently find it difficult. I get what they're trying to do, and I don't dislike it, but it's hard to want to keep coming back to it when I can barely tell the difference between the songs. I appreciate the dark atmosphere as much as anybody here, but I find it's more effective to create when done so using relevant melody, instead of a wall of death metal sound. Maybe I simply cannot into avant-garde.

it may just sound like noise, but they know what theyre doing. they go for the dark, gritty guitar tones for a reason, to create the dark atmosphere that the lyrics help portray. just because they arent appealing doesnt mean they arent talented.

It is supposed to be fast and chaotic!! I bet money you couldn't learn or start to play any of Portals material!! I've been playing guitar for 24 years so yes indeed I know what it takes to play furious fast chords that are speed picked!! You indeed have to have mad skills and lots of endurance to play it!!

@CodyRicheson I most definitely hear melodies in this. People are just too stuck in a box melodically. It may be very atonal and unconventional, but there are definitely melodies going on here, and it's all very cohesive.
