From the album In Absentia. It's the seventh studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree (Richard Barbieri, Colin Edwin, Gavin Harrison, Steven Wilson), first released on 24 September 2002. Written by Steven Wilson.

Lyrics:

A mother sings a lullaby to a child

Sometime in the future the boy goes wild

And all his nerves are feeling some kind of energy

A walk in the woods and I will try

Something under the trees that made you cry

It's so erotic when your make up runs

I got wiring loose inside my head

I got books that I never, ever read

I got secrets in my garden shed

I got a scar where all my urges bled

I got people underneath my bed

I got a place where all my dreams are dead

Swim with me into your blackest eyes

A few minutes with me inside my van

Should be so beautiful if we can

I'm feeling something taking over me

I got wiring loose inside my head

I got books that I never, ever read

I got secrets in my garden shed

I got a scar where all my urges bled

I got people underneath my bed

I got a place where all my dreams are dead

Swim with me into your blackest eyes

I got wiring loose inside my head

I got books that I never, ever read

I got secrets in my garden shed

I got a scar where all my urges bled

I got people underneath my bed

I got a place where all my dreams are dead

Swim with me into your blackest eyes

I like this because it sounds so 90s. Ted Bundy stuff brought me here.

As much as i like the album it rings very strongly of lots of music i listened too or heard back in the ate 90s early 2000s. Im not saying plagiarism but this song has 3 distinct songs which sound interestingly close. The 2nd bar onward of the verse is like a slowed down 'rio' by duran duran in terms of rythym and melody.the chorus sounds very much like the middle 8 of 'millenium' by robbie williams with its frantic pacing back and forth. The chorus ends with what sounds identical to the outro vocal harmony of 'shes electric' by oasis.I still love the band, but whenever i hear this song those 3 things distract me so much. Also prodigal on the same album has pretty much the same melody as 'avenging angels' by space... at least my mind fills in the blanks lolNot trying to cause controversy, i just thought this is interesting.
