I really liked this movie. The ending was great because it was so different than other movies where the couple escapes their demise and lives happily ever after. The music in this scene combined with the pan around them was so beautiful and so well done. I cry every time I watch it. One of my absolute favorites.

I'm seeing a lot of negative comments about the ending or how the movie sucked. Am I missing something here? I mean I personally don't see anything wrong with how it ended...

This movie continues to leave me with mixed feelings. I am upset with how they crammed so much storytelling into such a small time span. The film, in my opinion, should have been given more time to thrive and tell its story, like Titanic and Pearl Harbor did. HOWEVER...I simply will not dismiss this movie. The kissing scene and the way the camera works around them, and their story and the history of Pompeii alone are enough make to come back to this flawed yet still passionate tale.
