I'd forgotten how much I hated this pretentious bullshit.

'twas a time when the robertson boys ruled the floors of danceteria, among other places & things & the philip glass production made for some inspiring noise, indeed.

I saw them at Rutgers - with about 50 other kids. We knew every song and danced like crazy. They came out for an encore and apologized that they had no more material - so they played the whole set again. It was AWESOME.

Lucky you! I´ve been listening to them since 1982 but never get the chance to see this wonderful och mazing band live... New York was so far away back then... :(

I think if I was going to make an uninsightful and reductive comparison to a better-know band I'd probably have gone with Talking Heads rather than Devo...?

Don't know about Devo, don't really like them. Too cartoonish and silly for my taste but "Bucket Rider" sounds like it could have been taken straight from the Feelies' "Crazy Rhythms". It's the guitar sound and the drums!

@lesigint That would be an awesome superhero song!

who cares anyway. every band is influenced by something/someone/some band. and devo is a great band to be influenced by.

@899289 Big Devo fan here, I don't see this as very Devo-ish at all.

@899289 True, Devo formed in 1970 and certainly put out records before Polyrock. Not at all a stretch to think Polyrock were influenced by them, but still, it doesn't take away from the technical chops it took to make something this good. At least they had the sense to follow the lead of a fairly obscure (at the time) up and coming band of misfits rather than being yet another amongst the still creeping horde of zombies that can't see past the beatles.
