Disregarding for the briefest of moments how great Hedwig was, but when I listen to this, it gives me shivers that amidst this gorgeous organized din is Annie Clark's voice, in what may have been one of her final recorded works with The Polyphonic Spree prior to pursuing her solo career as St. Vincent.

I've tried to listen to all of the cover songs. I know that John Cameron Mitchell is hard to match but I found all of them beyond terrible. Sleater kinney would have done a decent angry inch if it hadn't been for that b52 guy. rufus wainwright nasally whining his way through origin of love made my ears bleed and this odious peace of elevator music has NOTHING of the up yours attitude and melancholy of the original. some songs are just not to be covered, and all of hedwig's should remain hedwigs.
