My wife Susie and I were both in Pohgoh. We continue to run the label New Granada to this day. When Susie joined the band in JAN 1996, we 100% considered ourselves an 'indie rock' band w/ our main influences (not sounds, but influences) being bands like Versus, Superchunk, Yo La Tengo etc.

I mean that with the mainstream music the vocals are usually sooooo important, otherwise the listeners get bored. 'course there is pop that doesn't use a lot of vocals but that isn't what the mainstream is interested in. Bands like these could be mainstream and that's why i mentioned the vocals, knowing that vocals do not determine the genre. You really were too quick to judge this time.

You're not educated about music. Genres are not about vocals, they're about instrumental parts. Compare the instrumental parts with songs like Pop Unknown - In Spite Of Or Crash Boom Bang - Let It Out . Of course, the instrumental parts of a song may vary a bit, meaning that drums or the electronic guitar may sound different, and people like to experiment with putting in stuff like pianos/keyboards in there, but otherwise the music itself would have no individual sounding.

instruments are more important than in pop songs, in which it's usually always about the voice. The song structure is pop for the most part, but the guitar at the end shows it's indie rock too.
