From their 1980 album "Under The Gun".

Lyrics:

Now and then you see me falling

Way behind the things I need to do

Don't you believe I've missed my calling

I'm just the one to play your fool

Chorus:

Under the gun

under the gun

I'm down and crawlin' like I've never done

Under the gun, under the gun

Standing in my own way and nowhere to run

Waited so long it felt like a lifetime

And looking up just seemed so far away

Between these walls I live on the bottom line

It's just enough to get me through the day

(chorus)

Now and then you see me falling

Way behind the things I need to do

Don't you believe I've missed my calling

I'm just the one to play your fool

(Chorus)

Their strongest studio album ever, in my humble opinion. Check out the acoustic version of Under the Gun on Bareback at Big Sky. Its on iTunes.

I haven't heard this number in about 30 years. I'm 11 years old again! 1980 produced some great stuff--and not just the punk, new wave and new metal, either. Established artists like Poco, Rossington-Collins Band ('Don't Misunderstand Me'), Bob Seger (Against The Wind), Eric Clapton (Just One Night), Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath pulled off some nice stuff that year. It was a pleasant change from the cheesy disco that had been dominating radio for the previous 3 years.

Paul Cotton is fantastic, as per usual. Ditto the group as a whole. Very few artists make music of Poco's quality anymore.
