Music legend Martin Barre (of Jethro Tull fame) visited Plymouth Music Zone in January 2011 to give a masterclass to a lucky few PMZ participants. Here, he performs a song called 'Bug', which is actually the nickname he gives his wife!

I think what did this album in when it came out was the vocals and the smooth kind of jazz that overshadowed great guitar work like this song ... i always liked Martin's guitar work, so crisp and clean .... very precise and tasteful.

Martin is underrated and doesn't get credit he should for his contributions to the live show, especially in the 70s. Listen to his solos on the Tull bootlegs, especially the 1977 solo he did on 'A Sack Full of Trousersnakes'. Simply awesome.

One of my favourite guitarists. The guy is incredible. Look into Mark Knofler's inspirations.......he'll tell you about how this guy put him on track ( Mark is another of my favourite players.)
