It's about being forced to behave a certain way and follow the rules to be "perfect", but doing so (the "good behaviour"; following the rules) is impossible and thus drives you crazy (the "price" for behaving in such a way rather than being yourself). Instead of having to hide who she really is by trying to achieve this acceptable norm she's pressured into striving to be, the singer wants to break out and "find herself", to learn who she really is.

Songs can be understood in different ways, I agree. But lyrics are lyrics and if you look it up online, you'll see that it's "traitor". It's not that I'm not respecting your opinion, I just think that you misheard the lyrics. Happens. Peace :)

I'm sorry but I think you're wrong. She's saying that behaving "good" makes her feel like a traitor, like's she's betraying herself and who she really is.

I heard this song about 6 years ago, on the radio, and I recorded it on a cassette tape. lol After listening to it a zillion times, I finally remembered to look up who sang it. I had no idea it was PLUMB! For some reason I always guessed it was by the band "Inhabited" and obviously I was wrong.
