Baby

Oh man, why d'ya do it?

My dead end love affair

Turned me to alcahol

Took me to 'big nowhere'

Took me to 'out of town'

I was just seventeen

He had a motor car

Gave me a wedding ring

Gave me a rubber doll

Man i believed him

And what he say about Cleveland

My American dreamboat

Dreamland Ohio

He said one day I'd be something

My dead end love affair

Drove me to seek out god

Turned me from beaty queen

Turned me to alcahol

Man i believed him

And what he say about Cleveland

My American dreamboat

Dreamland Ohio

He said one day I'd be something

Why d'ya have to go down there?

Why d'ya have to go down there?

He'd say someday I'd be

Someday I'd be something

Now This Sound Is Brave

I think the question really is why don't you come to Cleveland?

@skeveo Yes it was something along those lines, I believe it was recorded in the 90s but I don't know for sure.

@ZZqezza I have an image for the Hen's Teeth Cover. It has a 'promo only - not for sale' stamp on it, and the photo looks TBYML era, but I could be wrong.

According to a reviewer it was recorded as a joke by John Parish and PJ Harvey for Dance Hall At Louse Point.

@ZZqezza I heard it was recorded during the Dance Hall at Louse Point sessions with John Parish, but it wasn't put on that because both of them thought it would be too much of a commercial hit (or something like that)

For the longest time, this song was only known about by title and was a complete mystery in terms of origin, lyrics and sound. Then, finally, someone posted it about 4-5 years ago to one or more of the music forums. I like it and think it's funny, but my recollection is that PJ and John aren't fans of the song so it probably won't see the light of day in a live show anytime soon. I wish they would though.. couldn't you just imagine??

i have alot of rare pj songs and have enjoyed seeing you post them, but this is the second time you've dropped one on me i never heard of. Thank you so much!

I guess whoever put these Hens Teeth songs together just meant to say they're rarer than hens' teeth. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it! "Heaven" and "Wait" are early recordings when she was still with Automatic Dlamini. The BOTSW is from the docu September Songs. Highway 61 Rev. was recorded for a Bob Dylan tribute album: Outlaw Blues Vol. 2. And this song is actually called "Why D'Ya Go To Cleveland?", and didn't make it onto the final release of DHALP. Hope I could help.

Honestly this B-side is a mystery for me because I can't find any information or lyric. I really don't know where this come from, I've got is from an album called Hens Teeth, but even about this release doesn't exist any info at all
