a fallen soldier calling out for his mother is a common theme of world war 1. altho this seems to have an ethnic vibe to it, i still think lemmy's "1916" is the best work in this genre. admittedly i haven't listened to this whole album.

Yes, you must understand that this song makes the ultimate closer. You must listen to the album again and again until you can appreciate such a composition of segments. This is also the saddest song on the album because it directly involves two, young, characters in "their own present" instead of bridging together the universal humanity of it all like the other songs.

this song closes this album very nicely. short and sweet. maybe not as great as other tracks but much appreciated as it brings u back to earth from a euphoric state of mind. God bless PJ harvey
