Kick It To The Ground (b-side to A Place Called Home, 2001)

Look at what I've found

A flower on his grave

Kick it to the ground

I've got no soul to save

Nature dealt me raw

Planted me with hate

Took my only love

To an early grave

See these eyes of envy

Bitterness it's true

I'm looking through your ashes

Looking right at you

Ten thousand years of loving

Could never set me free

From this web of hate I've woven

This chosen misery

Kick it to the ground X3

Carry scars of sorrow

But I have no regrets

And I will return tomorrow

I'm not finished hating yet

Look at what I've found

A flower on his grave

If we saw and heard this for the first time at a local open mic, crowd reaction would be craving a t. Swift cover most likely. What a shame

I only really listen to classical music & P J. Unfortunately I detest opera - I don't believe a word of the fake emotion & melodrama - & I think this is the gap Polly fills (sorry!) for me. A lot of her output is actually wry & witty, but when she pulls the emotional stops out I get literally blown away, I feel insubstantial & inconsequential by comparison. She shows me what's real. And she is nothing, nothing like Patti Smith.

I's say it reminds me much more of Neil Young than Bob Dylan

even the opening guitar strumming gave me chills eerie realism or artistic genius

Does this song (the music only) remind anyone else of either a Bob Dylan or Dylan-esque song or an oldie with a group vocal somewhere in the chorus? Before PJ's vocal started, I thought this was a different song, but I can't quite remember which one...

I love the end where she just sings "la la la lalala la" its kinda funny and crazy. Like after all that anger thats how it ends? I love it! PJ Harvey is wonderful!!!
