Well MTV started broadcasting in 1992 (over in Japan), but the guys in P5 must've heard Mecano through Imports (remember, Mecano were/are from Spain, not Latin America - though we *did* play them *a lot* on our radios - and I wasn't even born in the Early 80s!).... but like I said, no hate towards Mecano or P5 (and the two bands did the same evolution to develop a different sound - only thing is P5 changed their vocalist, but not Mecano).

I think they did just the same as Mecano and other bands in Latin America and around the globe: they wanted ti sound and look as the bands they used ti watch in MTV (pop USA and british bands). But Pizzicato Five reach a very specific and amazing sound, specialy with Maki.

Ditto, reminds me of "maman a tort" as as well, but with no offense to Mylene's work which I also love, this video is a lot more sophisticated... just amazing. These guys were, and are to this very day, so ahead of their time. The title of the song only is genius lol. One didn't even have to listen to it or watch it, the title only is already genius. So many women living under the Audrey Hepburn complex... so real.
