Still the best. Another song about fucking... And the album is a lot better than given credit for by these snotty-nosed little left-wing Guardian shits wanting a break from Miley and Taylor.

Your comments of this is weird (weird good or weird bad?) or confusing (is it comprehensible? Does it have to? Most of their songs that garnered their reputation as being great musicians were bafflingly confusing. I still have no fucking clue what Monkey Gone To Heaven means, if it has a message and to be honest I don't need to. The ridiculousness of that song's lyrics and the vocals behind it are what make it great to me and it's a nifty little symbolic song that I use and have used intellectually as an abstraction to analyze religion, evolution, and environmental pollution if that's what the songs about? I don't care. Still love the abstractive harmony of that very punk rock song. And similarly this song may be just as confusing and confounding as Monkey Gone to Heaven and I would not let that stop me from enjoying it. Frank Black, the leader of the Pixies has also gone onto explain his creative process and said he basically writes the lyrics to songs from the melody so whatever the rhythm that the song creates he extrapolates some kind of lyrics or meanings to and places them back into the song. But there's so many hipsters and old rock fanatics that don't know what to make of it that they'd either denounce it altogether. Deem them hasbeens really that's what you guys are saying as if the nostalgia of their old music has to be preserved at all costs at the risk of losing those fond fond memories I'm sure you have. And the others will just make blanket statements of it being weird without any basis or confusing, because you know by default, the rest of the human society has to take their subjective opinion to mean absolutely nothing. It's a completely empty vacuous thing to say that it's confusing or weird, but not weird in a good or bad way or confusing in a thought provoking or mind numbing way. You guys who don't give this chance, as you're more than welcome and of course entitled to don't have to monopolize and undermine the subjective realities of others who do or might enjoy this. The catch is, there is no disparity in music these days and the way it garners appreciation for their seemingly ostracized melodies and music. We don't have a Punk Rock era any more. That was co-opted by skaters and disillusioned kids who made it palatable and homogenized it into some nifty little trendy tchotchke you could bye at Hot Topic. We don't have Hip Hop any more that was made palatable by the Drakes and Eminem's. In trying to make these genres recognizable and appreciated? They ended up being saturated and inflated. Now anyone with an Instagram and a self-proclaimed sense of eccentricity can proclaim themselves to be a true aesthetician. Not how it used to be. Just saying. I'm not so nostalgic that I can't separate the haydays from good music or be able to think that every song that isn't comprehensible from the get to is shit. You guys are trash for thinking that. And now cause hipsters are in the game of musical recognition, you can't criticize another person's aesthetic convictions like you once could without feeling a total hypocrite. It sucks. I really, and if you were intellectually and aesthetically honest with yourself? Would appreciate that these songs are worth investing in as a fan of the Pixies and of musical integrity and longevity as it were.

Music isn't always subjective and sometimes when it is and its deemed irrevocably subjective you get people who can't agree whether they like it or not. You also get people who indeterminably like it or don't. But when you have people who don't like it and with the utmost certainty proclaim their unliking for it you get this mess of opinion and ruin the experience of enjoying and listening to music. I was on the boundaries. Didn't know whether to like it or not. But I'm definitely convinced that they're still great. One of the greatest bands to bring harmony and chaos to this world in such a delightful thought provoking and intriguing way. It sucks that people are so divided on whether or not they like it. Maybe it's because on a day to day basis they remind themselves, for sure, without a shadow of doubt what their tastes are. They exemplify it. They announce it to the world. They make sure that they like their coffee, whether exotic or humbly accessible. They make sure they like this band or that band, without swaying away from their convictions. They make sure that their pretentiousness goes justified and that you're subjective opinion on their subjective tastes doesn't undermine their predisposition for the convictions behind their tastes. We call these hipsters. Or outdated rock fanatics that can't seem to get over the haydays for their affectionate bonds and memories they nostalgically cling onto. They're still very very good. And if you don't like it. You obviously gotten around to changing up your tastes. A bit. Just try it. I love these guys and was on the fence about this new album. And it's phenomenal now listening to it again. I'm not gonna let grow on me. I'm gonna let it explore me. Like a stranger I consensually allow to. That's the mindset you should try. You don't have to. I'm not the arbiter of your aesthetic cognition like many of you self-righteously appoint yourselves to be. But I encourage and implore you to. Cheers.

I think the first verse might be about the drummer Dave Lovering. Maybe Frank's appreciation for him? Also maybe about Dave's use of pills and how they fucked up his drumming in 2004 when they got back together? Second verse is about Frank, I've seen video of him driving a Cadillac and I'm sure he listens to Chet Baker. Last verse is about Kim's playing (slinky, punky, funky) and whip cream hippy might be talking about those Starbucks drinks she always has. "What goes boom, make some room" probably about them breaking back into the scene. "Grace" I guess maybe is the new bass player? Decoding Franks lyrics is not easy!

Не такой уж и плохой альбом как тут некоторые пишут. Понятно, что не Doolittle или Bossanova, но все-таки слушать можно и нужно. )

I honestly think Pixies don't have anything new to show , and it makes me sad because i love their music , but those new song are so dull and monotonous. You can clearly hear this "Pixie-Style" they are trying to fit in there but that just makes it more repetitive.
