Great video. For a good CD recording of this check out "Fields of Honour" by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Canada with the Pipes and Drums of the 48th Highlanders of Canada. You won't be disappointed.

I've been looking for a decent sounding recording of this song for AGES. (like, 10 years at least.) Really nice to have found it after all this time. Great performance

NIckmacvicar, It's pretty much impossible to not whistle along with the 79th Farewell, especially when it's played as incredibly as the RRS plays it. Very impressive, and thanks for sharing. I think I'll just press the "Play" button again....;-)

It was just a friendly visit. And the combined sound was indeed spectacular.

This must be one of the first times that these two new bands have combined. What was the occasion for in Italia?? Both bands look small, and its surprising that the RSBs don't have a DM on parade? The combined sound is better in this kind of mixed formation as opposed to putting pipers in front and band behind as in another related video here. A treat to see both new bands together, but sad how small compared to the old regimental bands of the Black Watch, KOSBs, Gordons, Royal Scots, etc.

Are we sure it's not just a little recording delay of my very tacky camera?

You are right! They are RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT instead of LEFT - RIGHT - LEFT. they are missing the beat during the first countermarch, due to the high rythm they are playing the tune (correctly by the way: it is not good to play this at 112 but at least 116 paces per minute - but then you have to keep the pace). Bloody hell, I am the organiser of the tour and I realised it on the spot!
