http://facebook.com/leonheartmusic - A cover of 'Pink Rabbits', my favourite song atm from The National's new album 'Trouble Will Find Me'. You can find the chords/tabs/lyrics in the description box below. More 'The National' covers (and other covers/original music) on my channel. Hope you'll enjoy !
CHORDS/TABS
I play the song higher so I could sing it more comfortably with a low voice and adjusted the tuning for a fuller sound and decided to place the capo over five strings instead of all 6, so the high E is kept open all the time (for a richer sound).
The original is played with the same chords as noted below, only with the capo in 2nd position. You could also play without the capo and play
Bm - E - A - D
F#m - D ('and everybody was gone' part)
A - E - Bm - D (from the 'now I only think about LA' part)
So here's the way I play it. Choose whether to play the chord variations (between brackets () ) or not, depending on the level you're playing on.
Place capo in 7th position (leave high E open) - tune low E to D
CHORDS (these also count for the capo in 2nd position (as in the original song), but with the capo on all six strings and the chords played normally) :
Verse
Am (Am Am Am7) - D (D D6 D) - G (G G Gadd9) - C (C C C)
Chorus (And everybody was gone, you were staring down the street...)
Em7 - C - Em - C
From 'Now I only think about Los Angeles when the sound kicks out'
G (G G Gadd9) - D (D D D6) - Am (Am Am A7) - C (C C C)
TABS
( x02210 means, don't play the low E string, play the A open, D-string 2nd position, G 2nd pos, B 1st pos, high E open)
Am x02210
Am7 x02010
D 000230
D6 000430
G 550000
Gadd9 550200
C x32010
Em7 220000
If I made a mistake somewhere in writing this down, please let me know. I hope you'll be able to play this in a matter of time !
LYRICS
I couldn't find quiet. I went out in the rain
I was just soakin' my head to unrattle my brain
Somebody said you disappeared in a crowd
I didn't understand then. I don't understand now
Am I the one you think about when you're sitting in your faintin' chair drinking Pink Rabbits?
Am I the one you think about when you're sitting in your faintin' chair drinking Pink Rabbits?
And everybody was gone
You were staring down the street 'cause you were tryin' not to crack up
It wasn't like a rain, it was more like a sea. I didn't ask for this pain, it just came over me
I love a storm, but I don't love lightning. All the waters coming up so fast it's frightening
Am I the one you think about when you're sitting in your faintin' chair drinking Pink Rabbits?
Am I the one you think about when you're sitting in your faintin' chair drinking Pink Rabbits?
And everybody was gone
I was staring down the street 'cause I was trying not to crack
I was solid gold. I was in the fight. I was coming back from what seemed like a ruin
I couldn't see you coming so far. I just turn around and there you are
I'm so surprised you want to dance with me now
I was just getting used to living life without you around
I'm so surprised you want to dance with me now
You always said I held you way too high off the ground
You didn't see me I was falling apart. I was a white girl in a crowd of white girls in the park
You didn't see me I was falling apart. I was a television version of a person with a broken heart
You didn't see me I was falling apart. I was a white girl in a crowd of white girls in a park
You didn't see me I was falling apart. I was a television version of a person with a broken heart
And everybody was gone
You were staring down the street cause you were trying not to crack up
Bona Drag was still on
Now I only think about Los Angeles when the sound kicks out
Now I only think about Los Angeles when the sound kicks out
You said it would be painless. A needle in a doll
You said it would be painless. It wasn't that at all
You said it would be painless. A needle in a doll
You said it would be painless. It wasn't that at all (when the sound kicks out)
You said it would be painless. A needle in a doll (when the sound kicks out)
You said it would be painless. It wasn't that at all
Thank you for watching and listening.
