I love this song so much.When I listen to the lyrics, I like to think that Gilmour talks about Syd in the first verse,("Did you know...it was all going to go so wrong for you"),and about his fear of celebrity and talent("Why did we tell you thenYou were always the golden boy thenAnd that you'd never lose that light in your eyes").In the second verse, I like to think Gilmour talks about Waters, and his relationship with Gilmour and the band at the time("Hey you...did you ever realize what you'd becomeAnd did you see that it wasn't only me you were running from")("Leading the blind while I stared out the steel in your eyes")And in the final verse, I like to think Gilmour talks about both of them, and about Pink Floyd in general, their common past("I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me),present, ("The rain fell slow, down on all the roofs of uncertainty")and maybe futur ("I never thought that you'd lose the light in your eyes").I don't know if I'm right about all this or not, but everytime I listen to the song with this meaning in mind, it always brings chills to my spine, and the whole song takes another dimension.Anyway, I love this song. ^^
