Pink Floyd - Nobody Home

Feeling that his wife and the world are now beyond his reach, Pink lists the inconsequential things that are still within his grasp - the possessions in his hotel room and his unrealized dreams of personal freedom.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got a little black book with my poems in.

Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in.

When I'm a good dog they sometimes throw me a bone in.

I got elastic bands keeping my shoes on.

Got those swollen hand blues.

I've got thirteen channels of shit on the T.V. to choose from.

I've got electric light.

And I've got second sight.

I've got amazing powers of observation.

And that is how I know

When I try to get through

On the telephone to you

There will be nobody home.

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm.

And the inevitable pinhole burns

All down the front of my favorite satin shirt.

I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.

I've got a silver spoon on a chain.

I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains.

I've got wild staring eyes.

And I've got a strong urge to fly.

But I've got nowhere to fly to.

Ooooh, Babe. When I pick up the phone

There's still nobody home.

I've got a pair of Gohills boots

And I've got fading roots.

Horribly under-sampled. Aliasing all over it and not just on the highest frequencys. What was the sampling rate for heavens sake?

Woke up with this song playing in me belfry, so I put it on while I came out to smoke. And then a hummingbird just hovered a couple feet from my face and tweeted until I shooed it away. I often worry hummingbirds might poke my eye, possibly mistaking the shiny red orbs for a nectar source. Or maybe they mistake me for a Disney princess... Why else would they come so close?

I was wondering the same thing. I would really like to know what he's saying

I find it interesting how lots of cultures and religions look to the stars for answers, and not the earth. (i.e. how most religion's afterlife exists in the sky versus the earth). The more you appreciate religion for a positive psychohistorical roll / evolutionary psychology point of view, the more you must realize the strange disparity between the value of the earth and it's biosphere versus the vacuum of space that exists between us and giant balls of gas.

Anyone else notice what the guy yelling at the beginning says?"OI! Shut up! I got a little black book with me poems in!"

It is comforting to know that others appreciate this.  Wouldn't want to have nowhere to fly to all alone.

Mum had a vhs of the wall with ads included. Watched it until the tape gave way. I love this song despite the way it makes me feel
