What I like so much about Roger Waters is that he's one of the very few people who can sing with so much emotion. It's pretty obvious in most of the songs on The Wall album that he's gone through a lot of hurt and anguish...a father who was killed in combat, an overprotective mother, and a broken heart b/c of being cheated on.

what makes the song even sadder is how roger is holding himself rocking back and forth

I think he is saying that he treats his woman like shit when life is good but when hes not on tour or maybe feeling "alone", he wants her. It may have not shown him beating her or mistreating her in the movie but maybe he had "one of his turns" and abused her....... just my interpretation of course

Absolutely. Great comment. I finished a book just last night that described this track as, along with Rog's vocal, possibly the Floyd's LEAST viable of them all, if you can believe that! I think it's one of their best, actually. It's all in the lyrics and his delivery TOTALLY fits the mood.

OK Pink Floyd has always appealed to young kids coming of age feeling like no one understands them or the emotions they have. I can still remember falling in love with Floyd at the age of 15 I'm 30 now. And on days where emotions run high I fall in love with them all over again.

If you ever reach a point where you feel that emotion you will understand. I think he was admitting that he needs her even though it my just be to treat her like shit and dress her down in front of their friends.

i dont think anyone can ever capture the emotions of this song and one of my turns better than floyd did.

Sponged bob. Lol good one. You know when I discovered and started listening to Pink Floyd? 14. We don't all watch that Jersey Shore shit you know, many of us appreciate good art/musical talent.

I don't know if it's tongue in cheek, sarcastic or somehow ironically sadistic, but why does he say "I need you... To put through the shredder/beat to a pulp"?
