You can hear some of the early 60's nerdy rock in this album, but it is a more darker tone. i like it

People always comparing Syd to Water. Give it a rest. Syd was great. Waters and the rest of Floyd are great. Just TRY and tell me Wish You Were Here, Dark Side, Animals, The Wall aren't great works of art. If you don't agree there's a 100 million or more who would disagree. And like Floyd after Syd, both wrote some clunkers
