The people who run the stations are generally in it for the money, they play what people want to hear. Most people don't want to think when they're listening to music, they just want the same endless party music played over and over again, and the people running the stations are receptive to this.

radio isnt fucked the people who run the stations are. Not all radio is bad, I have a station in my home town that plays all kinds of music like this, including jazz, classical, techno, punk, metal and old school hip hop. We also have a metal station here. Nothing too heavy though, sadly. No one really listens to it though, most here listen to the "hits" on the more mainstream station. v.v
